A clean furnace operates more efficiently because there is no build-up of dust, dirt, or debris that can obstruct airflow or interfere with the heat exchange processes. This efficiency can lead to lower energy bills as the furnace doesn’t have to work as hard to heat your home. A clean furnace also means cleaner air circulating throughout your home. Regular maintenance, including cleaning, helps extend the lifespan of your furnace. Many furnace warranties require annual maintenance and cleaning to remain valid. Skipping this maintenance could void your warranty, leaving you responsible for any repairs or replacements.
Having your furnace cleaned annually offers several significant benefits:
- Improved energy efficiency
- Extended lifespan of equipment
- Enhanced safety
- Improved indoor air quality
- Maintaining manufacturer’s warranty
- Peace of mind
Furnace Cleaning
Sonic air duct technicians gently vacuum up dust and debris inside the furnace and use a soft brush or paintbrush to dislodge remnants from corners and surfaces. Our technicians will check the furnace air filters. If the homeowners have replacements available, they will replace them with new ones according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. If they are reusable, the technicians will clean them according to the manufacturer’s instructions. We wipe down the exterior surfaces of the furnace after reassembly and completion of the cleaning.
Blower Motor Cleaning
The blower motor is responsible for circulating heated air throughout your home. Over time, dust, dirt, and debris can accumulate on the motor and its components, causing it to work harder to move air. A clean blower motor operates more efficiently, which can help reduce energy consumption and lower utility bills.
Our Blower Motor Cleaning Process
- Inspect for Safety: Before cleaning, our skilled technicians visually inspect the blower motor and its components for any signs of damage or excessive wear.
- Clean the Exterior: We gently remove dust and debris from the exterior surfaces of the blower motor and fan blades.
- Clean the Fan Blades: We ensure all sides of the blades are cleaned thoroughly to remove accumulated dust and dirt.
- Clean Inside the Blower Compartment: We ensure corners, crevices, and areas around the motor housing are thoroughly cleaned.
- Reassemble and Test: Once our technicians have completed cleaning, they reassemble the furnace components and restore power to the furnace and test its operation to ensure everything is functioning correctly.
Coil Cleaning
Dirty furnace coils restrict airflow through the HVAC system. This restriction can lead to reduced air circulation in your home, affecting comfort levels and potentially causing your furnace to work harder to achieve desired temperatures. Clean coils facilitate efficient heat exchange and potentially lowers energy consumption. Accumulated debris on coils can lead to corrosion and damage over time, especially if moisture is present. Regular cleaning helps prevent these issues, extending the lifespan of your HVAC system and reducing the likelihood of costly repairs.
Our Coil Cleaning Process
- Inspect the Coils: Before cleaning, our technicians visually inspect the coils for any signs of dirt, dust, or debris buildup.
- Brush Cleaning and/or Vacuuming Coils: We use a small vacuum to gently remove dirt and build up from the coils. For more stubborn dirt or debris, we use a soft brush or paintbrush to carefully loosen and remove buildup from the coils. We work methodically to carefully avoid damaging the coils.
- Use Specialized Coil Cleaning Solution: We use a solution specifically designed for use on HVAC coils to remove any remaining build-up. Typically, this involves spraying the solution onto the coils and allowing it to sit for a specified time before rinsing.
- Rinse: We rinse the coils thoroughly following use of the solution and for final removal of debris.
- Straighten Bent Fins: We use a fin comb to straighten any bent fins on the coils. This helps to maintain proper airflow through the coils, ensuring efficient operation of the furnace.
- Reassemble and Test: Once we have completed cleaning, we reassemble and restore power to the furnace and test its operation to ensure everything is functioning correctly.
